STRAVA ART

If you’re reading this you’re likely someone who enjoys going for a run, but everyone’s had those days where running the same old loop from home isn’t as motivating. At the moment, as we are having to do most of our running around our neighborhood (#stayhome), the variety may be lacking more than ever before....Enter Strava Art.

Firstly, if you haven’t heard of Strava, it’s a fitness tracker app which can be used directly from your phone as a GPS or can link to your GPS watch to save your fitness activities. As well as tracking your workouts, you can share them with the friends who follow you on the app which makes it instagram for runners & cyclists.

Due to the visual nature of GPS marked maps, turning running routes into works of art isn’t a new thing, however, I can only gather that out of recent boredom, the Strava Art craze has boomed.

Runners are now carefully pre planning their routes around local streets to in the hope that their post run upload will somewhat resemble to picture they’d planned in their mind.

Some that have caught my eye are a not so mini dachshund drawn around the streets of San Francisco, an ode to Straya in the Aussie Kangaroo in Perth and the words ‘Marry Me’ (interesting way to propose, but each to their own).

Some guy even drew the Run Rabbit logo around the ovals in Melbourne’s Princess Park.

So if you’re a bit bored of the standard ‘out and back’ loop from your house, download Strava and go drawing (...if you think male genitalia hasn’t been done, yeah it has).

Run Rabbit will even write up a free 6 week customised program to the best Run Rabbit logo drawn in April. Tag @runrabbitcoach and #stravaart on instagram so we can check out your art.
